Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Malaysia Women and Girls Forum (MWGF) returned for its fourth year, held at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre (NEXUS) in Kuala Lumpur. This year's focus was on exploring and highlighting the significance of gender equality in public life.

Organised by the United Nations and UNFPA Malaysia, the full-day forum, themed "Women and Nation Building: The Foundation for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion," featured panel discussions with prominent Malaysians. These included ministers, policymakers, academics, youth representatives, civil society activists, and other influential figures.

Despite women constituting nearly half of the nation's population, substantial gender disparities persist in various areas. These include political and public life participation, economic opportunities, and remuneration. MWGF 2024 aimed to illuminate the critical role of Malaysian women and girls in the country's overall socioeconomic progress and delve into the obstacles hindering the full potential and contributions of half the population.

The forum delved into a wide range of topics, including women's empowerment, gender equality, women's rights, climate change, digital technology, health, and education. Through insightful discussions, workshops, and panel sessions, participants explored innovative solutions and strategies to advance women's roles in nation-building.
 
MWGF 2024 reinforced the importance of gender equality and women's empowerment as essential components of a just and sustainable future. By providing a platform for dialogue and collaboration, the forum empowered women to amplify their voices and drive positive change.
 
The 2024 MWGF featured a series of engaging plenary sessions, panel discussions, and keynote speeches covering diverse topics, including:
