Organised by the United Nations and UNFPA Malaysia, the full-day forum, themed "Women and Nation Building: The Foundation for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion," featured panel discussions with prominent Malaysians. These included ministers, policymakers, academics, youth representatives, civil society activists, and other influential figures.
Despite women constituting nearly half of the nation's population, substantial gender disparities persist in various areas. These include political and public life participation, economic opportunities, and remuneration. MWGF 2024 aimed to illuminate the critical role of Malaysian women and girls in the country's overall socioeconomic progress and delve into the obstacles hindering the full potential and contributions of half the population.
